Adobe has released the final update to Photoshop Lightroom 2.4 and Camera Raw 5.4. Both updates are available for download from Adobe’s Web site.

The updates both provide support for additional digital camera raw image file formats. A total of 31 new camera and camera back models have been added in this release, including Canon’s EOS 500D, Nikon’s D500 and 18 Hasselblad models.

Adobe has also updated its Digital Negative (DNG) specification to version 1.3. The new release supports opcodes — a list of operations for performing activities during the raw file conversion process, including corrections and enhancements that improve image quality prior to the demosaic process. These operations are difficult to perform in-camera due to limited processing power, according to Adobe.

Photoshop Lightroom is Adobe’s photo management software, a competitor to Apple Aperture. Camera Raw works in conjunction with Photoshop to provide direct access to raw image file formats.
